Funding Focus March 2016

Funding remains very difficult in these economically stringent times but it is important to focus on funding opportunities to help your organisation both sustain and develop.

Here are a couple of funders that may be of benefit to you:


John Moores Foundation

This charitable trust has local links and it assists local community groups / projects in disadvantaged areas run by and for local people. This includes both support and self help.
Networking with other groups doing similar work is potentially another angle.
The Foundation also helps projects welfare rights or other advice, information services to alleviate poverty.
There is also help for support training for voluntary organisations and the training and recruitment of volunteers.
You can apply by clicking online and following the instructions. Applications can be either handwritten or typed. You can apply for up to £5,000 and an application form takes 4-5 months to turn around.

Henry Smith Charity

This foundation assists: debt advice service, community centres, community services in areas of high deprivation and ‘work that tackles problems in areas of high deprivation’.
Running costs including salaries and/or project costs are eligible.
Under the Main Grant section, you must apply for OVER £10,000. You can apply for a grant to cover up to three years for core costs including salaries and overheads.
A specific project can include staffing costs.
You can download the guidelines and the grant programmes from the website.
It takes six months to hear the outcome of your application.
