New Staff: Bronwyn Morrison

Job Title: Resources Co-ordinatorFrom: Belfast

Tell us about your job

I’ll be working with the Head of Resources with recruitment, interviews and HR matters like sickness and annual leave. I’ll be maintaining employment records for all staff.

Why Advice NI?

Initially I joined Advice NI as a temporary receptionist. It was a summer job after graduation so I hadn’t planned to stay. However, everyone is so nice and really welcoming – we’re all like family in a way. It’s not like other jobs where you dread Monday morning. I also really like that I started on reception but I’ve had a chance to progress into the new role with a mentor like Kathleen (Mulligan, Head of Resources). I can really see a path for myself here.

What’s the best part of your job?

I like dealing with people, helping them and finding out about them. I’m still learning all the different things but I love that there are so many different aspects to my job.

Tell me something about yourself that we don’t know

I’m new but I’m not new. I joined Advice NI as a temp to cover reception in July 2018. I started a Masters degree in English Literature in September 2018 but I’ve been lucky enough to be able to that around working for Advice NI.

What are you looking forward to most over the next year?

Advice NI has been expanding really quickly and we’re still welcoming new staff. There’s that and the move to the new premises – I think that’s going to be a really interesting time for the organisation and for the Resources department in particular.
