I hope you continue to enjoy AdviceMatters and our policy newsletter Think. We aim to keep our readers informed of all the latest developments, including changes in the policy world, stimulate debate and seek solutions for the questions raised by our members and others in the sector.
It’s been a busy time at Advice NI. We’ve been facing such issues as the Joint Committee Inquiry into Welfare Policy in Northern Ireland and we’ve just seen the release of Professor Eileen Evason’s Discussion Paper on the mitigations cliffedge which is slowly but surely creeping ever closer. You can read more on both of these topics in this newsletter.
The other big event was the launch of the Advice NI EU Settlement Scheme support service. Advice NI will now support EU citizens and their families as they apply for the EU settled status they need to live and work in the UK after June 30, 2021.
We have grown considerably over the last year with the former Citizens Advice Bureaux having now taken up membership. I believe that as a result, we are a much stronger network which can have a greater influence in the policy sphere.
I hope that all the former Bureaux management, staff and volunteers have found the process of transitioning to membership of Advice NI not too disruptive and that you have found the Advice NI team supportive and beneficial. We will continue to work closely with all our members to ensure that we provide you with the tools and support that you require; so that the public can be assured that the advice they receive is of the highest possible quality. It is our mission to address their problems but also it is vital to ensure their stories and issues are heard loud and clear by policy makers.
