The Sustainable Energy Communities Project

The Sustainable Energy Communities (SEC) project is a Big Lottery Funded innovative initiative aimed at promoting community-led climate action across Northern Ireland.

By adopting the successful SEC model from Atlantic Technological University in the Republic of Ireland, our project seeks to address the pressing issues of fuel poverty and carbon emissions. Through a structured process of learning, planning, and implementing energy measures, communities will develop Energy Master Plans (EMPs) that focus on energy efficiency, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and transitioning to renewable energy sources. This project empowers communities to take control of their energy needs, fostering greater energy citizenship and contributing to the achievement of Net Zero targets.

We are thrilled to announce that the launch of this exciting project will take place on 11 September. This event will mark the beginning of a transformative journey for the participating communities, offering them the support and resources needed to become sustainable energy leaders. The launch will also highlight the collaborative efforts of various partners and showcase the potential of community-driven energy solutions to create a greener, more sustainable future for all.
