The Supporting Active Engagement (SAE) project has assisted hundreds of older people in folds and sheltered housing schemes in Northern Ireland to enhance their digital capability. We even won an Aontas Star Award in 2015.

By becoming one of our volunteer Internet Champions you will empower older people to access information online and develop their digital literacy. In return you will receive the full support of the SAE team and have access to Advice NI training. We’ll strive to place you in a venue that is close to your location.

“I am enjoying the class, it is very interesting and I have learnt a lot from attending.”
Cathleen Brady (class participant)

Our Right4Seniors digital inclusion training for older people consists of a 90 minute class every week for 10 weeks where we teach the basics of using an iPad. This includes:
  • Using apps
  • Searching online
  • Sending and receiving emails
  • Navigating social media
  • Accessing information on rights and entitlements
  • How to make a complaint online
Full training is provided so that you will be prepared, confident and equipped to deliver these weekly sessions. Your assistance will help to bridge the digital divide and make a positive impact on the lives of older people across Northern Ireland.

“This volunteer job is very good for me because I can improve my English, I like to teach other people and I really think more people need to know about the internet and its possibilities. I really enjoy it.”
László Záborski (Volunteer Internet Champion)
  • We’d love to hear from you if you are:
  • Confident using technology
  • Patient with good communication skills
  • Reliable and can work within a team environment
  • Able to explain jargon in simple language
